Genevieve is the co-founder with Jazz Thornton of the charity Voices of Hope and works full time as an advocate for improved outcomes and a better societal understanding of people struggling with mental health issues. Here she talks about her own struggles which began around the age of 10 and manifest with anxiety and OCD. By her mid-teens, the manifestations changed and she developed an eating disorder.  Gen talks about how her behaviour changed but how her parents helped her not be defined by what she was going through. She sought help early on from her GP and persevered to find the right counselor. Family support was important and Gen found interesting ways to communicate with her family. Her time in hospital was challenging but friendship was a vital part of her recovery and being honest with family and friends was important too. Gen’s sister Juliet and her Mother Helga share their stories here too.
