Helga supported her daughter Genevieve through an eating disorder that meant a long period in hospital and a long recovery. Not all of the services Helga was able to access are available nationwide but she shares her own insights about talking about the illness and what she learned about how to relate to a child who is suffering. Helga learned to recognize her limits as a parent and to seek help and talks about what help they found. Getting a diagnosis and then hospitalization pushed them to decide whether to tell people. Their decision to be completely open meant they were supported by friends and family. She talks about their strategy for looking after Genevieve and her realization she had to separate her daughter and the illness. Helga discusses the process towards recovery for all of them.
